Fictional project

Cotardo is a insurance company specialized in travel insurance. They want to boost their business and are developing an app that can help people find the right insurance and provide help when it comes to an emergency abroad.

For this project I concentrated on two user stories:

  1. A customer is planning a trip and wants to make sure the insurance is optimal.

  2. A customer is traveling in vietnam and needs assistance because of a medical issue.

I also made some assumptions for both user stories:

  1. Both are existing customers

  2. Existing customers have an account with the company than can be used for login

  3. Network coverage or wifi is available

Being an enthusiastic traveller myself, I was able to mostly draw from experiences I had and the help or assistance I would have loved to have before travelling or when being abroad.

Story 1

To find the right insurance for a trip the app features an assistant that asks two big questions: Where do you want to go and when? If the exact time is not set, one can choose a timeframe instead. With these two questions answered the app shows insurance suggestions and highlights the biggest features. In an optional step, extras can be included into the insurance which narrows down the options even further. With the tap on a button the insurance is taken out.

I also designed two alternatives for a more playful way to find the right product after place and time have been set. The prospect is asked what kind of holiday he's planning e.g. going backpacking, going climbing or staying mostly in a resort. The second alternative begs the question how save one wants to play it for the trip and a showing a slider to choose.

Story 2

In an emergency the app offers invaluable help to the clients. As a first step it discerns to different cases. You either feel sick or something happened and you're at the hospital and you want to know what to do. The client is then given a list of do's and dont's based on the country the clients in. In many cases this is enough but if more help is needed the next step shows several options to contact the company.
